Communications and Media Relations

Communications and Media Relations serves as the interface between the university and the public. We provide domestic and international media with news and background information on the latest developments in courses of study, teaching programs, research, and university life at LMU. We are the primary point of contact for journalists wishing to report on university themes. We also advise the institutions of LMU on all aspects of public relations and communication, as well as on corporate design and corporate wording.

We endeavor to intensify dialogue between representatives of the media and the research staff and officers of the university. Regular press releases concerning research findings are complemented by press conferences on selected topics. On the basis of our extensive directory of experts, we can also arrange for the provision of sound scientific advice in a wide range of fields. We use the latest tools in digital communication technology to make information available – in both German and English, and in various formats – on our website and on the podcast portal iTunes U.

We are responsible for a range of informational resources – for readers, listeners and viewers – dealing with note- and newsworthy developments at LMU. The Münchner Uni Magazin, which appears four times a year, publishes reports, interviews, and short pieces on compelling topics drawn from the work of the university’s many departments. The publication EINSICHTEN carries reports on scientific findings, presented in an appealing and intelligible format. Our English newsletter insightLMU is specifically directed to an international readership of graduates, researchers, partner universities, and friends of LMU.

In addition to coordinating social and official functions, such as the traditional reception for new students, we are also responsible for the branded university merchandise on offer in the LMU-Shop.
