Participation in other clusters
In addition to the graduate school and the three clusters of excellence, LMU Munich also participates in two other Munich research associations, both of which are coordinated by the Technische Universität München.
Origin and Structure of the Universe
Several renowned scientists from LMU Munich are participating in “Origin and Structure of the Universe – The Cluster of Excellence for Fundamental Physics”. Its main focus is to explore central questions of astrophysics, particle physics and nuclear physics: the innermost structure of matter, space and time, the nature of the fundamental forces as well as the structure, geometry and content of our universe.
Cognition for Technical Systems
Scientists from LMU Munich are also participating the cluster of excellence “Cognition for Technical Systems”. This cluster combines academic knowledge from different areas of neurosciences, natural sciences, engineering, computer science and the humanities with the aim to develop cognition for technical systems such as vehicles, robots and factories.
