The Institutional Strategy

LMU Munich is Germany’s leading research-intensive university. The overriding goal of the Institutional Strategy LMUexcellent is to further strengthen this position and to securely establish LMU Munich among the leading universities worldwide.

The overall strategy of LMUexcellent is to further enhance the University’s research profile. To this end, an extensive catalog of measures has been implemented to substantially improve the framework for top-level research and the promotion of junior researchers and to attract outstanding academics

Major emphasis has been placed on improving research infrastructure and recruitment procedures. A Center for Advanced Studies and an Academic Career Program serve to significantly improve both cooperation within the University and at national and international level as well as the promotion of junior academics. The professionalization of governance plays a central role in the implementation of the Institutional Strategy.

The comprehensive principles of equality and internationality shape all measures implemented in the context of LMUexcellent.
