German Research Foundation (DFG)

The German Research Foundation (DFG) supports several Collaborative Research Centers (SFB), Research Units, Research Training Programs and Priority Programs at LMU Munich and thus helps to strengthen the University’s extensive and interdisciplinary and international research network.
  • Collaborative Research Centers

    Collaborative Research Centers are university-based research alliances that receive guaranteed long-term support. The aim is to foster interdisciplinary cooperation and encourage the concentration of local resources on areas that are particularly promising. more

    Research Units bring together specialists from various disciplines to work on a common research project, and often contribute to the creation of new areas of investigation and new research collaborations. more

  • Research Training Groups

    Research Training Groups are designed to give graduates the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in the context of a structured and thematically focused doctoral program combining training and research. more

  • Priority Programs

    Priority Programs aim to promote the formation of closer links and intensify copperation between researchers nationwide. more
