Chemical Dynamics - From Femtochemistry to Biological Machines

While dynamic processes are an essential constituent of chemistry and life sciences, their temporal development has often been only imperfectly understood. Researchers at LMU Munich are global leaders in this field, their projects ranging from research into new methods using ultra-short laser pulses and specific spectroscopic processes to the measurement of single molecules and live cells. Collaboration with the outstanding theoretical research groups at LMU Munich in this area is now directed at producing groundbreaking work. One area of focus involves the dynamics of complex biochemical systems, aimed at producing a synthesis of molecular probes and neuronal switches. In addition, practical and theoretical analyses of the elementary stages of molecular processes will be conducted in reaction sequences on varying time scales.
