Center of Medieval and Renaissance Studies

The Center of Medieval and Renaissance Studies (ZMR) serves as a focal point for research and teaching. It addresses specialists in these fields as well as students and a wider academic public, imparting a broad interdisciplinary range of subjects. University teaching staff at the ZMR regularly hold lecture series and an interdisciplinary summer academy and are involved in promoting young academics. Their activities are aimed at raising the profile of LMU Munich's teaching and research potential in the fields of medieval and Renaissance studies, attracting students to the subjects, and unfolding new perspectives in studying the relevant eras. Munich is also home to numerous extramural institutions engaged in top-level projects in medieval and Renaissance studies which collaborate with the ZMR. The city thus offers an environment for cross-disciplinary study and research which is unique throughout Germany.
