The Studentenwerk runs eight larger student canteens, called mensen, and several smaller cafeterias. The mensen are located at major university buildings throughout Munich. The quality is what you’d expect from mass student dining, but you can find reasonably priced lunches with various side dishes and always at least one vegetarian meal. The cafeterias sell smaller snacks and drinks throughout most of the rest of the day.
Students with university identification, Studentenausweis, may purchase debit cards to use at most of these places. They also take cash, and some only use cash. The Studentenwerk website provides a detailed list and menus of what’s on offer at the various locations.
And then...The campus building at Oettingstr. 67 in the Englischer Garten operates its own dining area and accepts only cash. |
