Munich International Summer University

Munich International Summer University, or MISULMU, provides students from all over the world the opportunity to expand their academic horizons and participate in an attractive cultural program, while living in one of the world’s most friendly and vibrant cities with a rich history. Furthermore, MISULMU programs are a first-rate opportunity to experience LMU Munich at a personal level.
Participants are supported by a broad spectrum of services. Accommodation in student dorms (single room in shared apartment with high-speed internet access) is usually arranged.
The program fee includes tuition, course materials, some services like tutors and the costs of the extracurricular program activities as well. Guided Munich city tours and excursions to famous places in Bavaria, like Neuschwanstein, are examples for the extracurricular program.
Most courses are also able to offer financial support. Detailed information is provided on the respective websites.
After the successful completion of all program requirements every student receives a MISULMU transcript, generally specifying course name and course level, contact hours, the credits earned (usually ECTS credit points in accordance with the European Credit Transfer System) and the grade.
Since LMU started its summer activities in 1996 under the name of “Internationaler Münchner Sommer”, the number of courses and participants has grown constantly. In 2008, LMU’s summer courses were integrated into MISULMU, which meanwhile belongs to the largest summer activities of any German University.
