America in Crisis – a Discussion at the Lasky Center
George McGovern is visiting Munich at the invitation of the Lasky Center for Transatlantic Studies. On 17. October he will be in the Amerika Haus on Karolinenplatz to discuss the state of democracy in America with Karsten Voigt, former Coordinator for German-American Relations in the German Foreign Office. McGovern was born in 1922, and played a leading role in American politics as a member of the US Congress for more than two decades. He served in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and was the Democratic candidate in the presidential election of 1972, which was won by Richard Nixon. Since 2001 McGovern has been UN Global Ambassador on Hunger. The event in the Amerika Haus is hosted by the Lasky Center for Transatlantic Studies at LMU.
