Pioneering Program in Literary Studies is 10 years old

Munich, 12/12/2011

On Monday next, teaching staff, together with graduate students past and present, and other guests, will meet in the Historisches Kolleg  to mark the 10th anniversary of a ground-breaking venture in post-graduate education – the initiation of the International Doctoral Program in Literary Studies (ProLit) at LMU.

ProLit offers a structured and research-oriented framework in which students of literature can carry out post-graduate research. Careful supervision and mentoring, regular meetings to discuss progress in thesis research and writing, lectures and seminars on a broad range of philological topics and, above all, the stimulus afforded by an inspiring and international environment (40% of the participants come from abroad), ensure that learning conditions are optimal. So far, 40 students have successfully completed their doctoral studies under the auspices of ProLit.
