“Food, Inc.”

The “Green Visions” series at the RCC

A new season of films dealing with issues related to food production and food security, organized by the Rachel Carson Center (RCC), gets underway on 11. October.

The series, which is being presented under the general title “Green Visions”, comprises five films, which highlight social, economic and biological aspects of food production and nutrition. After each showing, members of the audience are invited to participate in an open discussion with scientists, directors and environmental experts.

The season begins with “Food, Inc.”, which explores the trend towards monopolization in the food industry in the US. The film shows how a small number of large concerns determine what the American farmer grows and what the consumer eats. The other four films in the series, “Raising Resistance”, “We Feed the World”, “Darwin’s Nightmare” and “Urban Roots”, will be screened over the course of the Winter Semester.

The series is being presented in the Lecture Hall of the Library at the Gasteig. Admission is free.
