When LMU student and monoskier Anna Schaffelhuber was named Disabled Sportsperson of the Year in late 2013, she already had her sights set on another goal: winning a gold medal at the Paralympics in Sochi. Now she has not only realized that ambition, she has earned two of the coveted prizes. Having already won the downhill race, Schaffelhuber also took the top spot in the Super-G contest. Thus she has contributed half of the four gold medals so far garnered by the German team at the Games.
And the 21-year-old is not about to rest on her laurels. She has three races still to come, in the categories Super Combined, Slalom and Giant Slalom. You can follow all the races live on www.paralympic.org.
