China Academic Network
Scientific Forum at Zhejiang University
The LMU – China Academic Network (ChAN) was set up to promote cooperation with leading Chinese universities, and held its first conference in Munich. Its 2nd Scientific Forum takes place at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, on 20-22 November.
The primary aim of ChAN is to enhance contacts and collaborations with a select set of China’s leading universities, such as Peking University (Beijing), Fudan University (Shanghai) and Zhejiang University (Hangzhou). Jiaotong University in Shanghai joined the network as a new partner in July 2016. This year‘s Scientific Forum brings scholars from LMU, including literary historian Professor Christoph Bode, pharmacologist Professor Martin Biel, physicist Professor Martin Weinfurther and Marcus Vogt (Professor of Christian Social Ethics), together with scientists from the participating Chinese universities. The conference is intended to strengthen existing links and stimulate the development of new research interactions by providing a platform that enables researchers and students from both countries to explore their common research interests in a broad range of disciplines extending from medicine and life sciences through humanities and social sciences to physics and geosciences.
