Guided Tour of LMU Munich 2018
Following the success of last year’s event, LMU Gateway hosted another LMU guided tour for newly-arrived international scientists and their families. Twenty researchers and their families took part in the 2-hour walking tour on October 20.
Tour guide and historian Georg Reichlmayr presented many interesting facts about the history of the LMU Main Building and the Bavarian State Library. The participants learned, for example, about the important role of Ludwig I, King of Bavaria, whose first official act as king was to establish LMU in Munich in 1826, it having been initially founded in 1472 in Ingolstadt. After the tour, the experience was discussed in the comfortable atmosphere of the traditional Bavarian restaurant Atzinger.
We would like to thank all participants and look forward to the next guided tour in 2019.
