Academic Advising

Looking for some help or feedback? For information about subjects and advice on all aspects of study at LMU Munich, visit either the Central Student Advisory Office (in German) or the International Office. Both institutions offer general counseling on choosing your major, course selection, admissions, and joining student organizations.

If you have questions concerning registration, re-registration, ex-matriculation, or changing your major, contact either the International Office (if you are Non-EU citizen) or the Studentenkanzlei (if you are EU citizen or Bildungsinländer; note website is in German).

Academic Tutoring and Counseling

If you need specific academic tutoring and counseling, you can receive it in all subjects at the Fachstudienberatung (in German), usually given by lecturers in the corresponding fields of study. Advisors can answer specific questions about course content, examination requirements, curricula and degree requirements, and study skills.

Study Information Service (SIS)

If you don’t know where to get your information on the range of available programs, the procedures for enrollment or registration, aptitude tests, leave of absence, or ex-matriculation, the student assistants from the Study Information Service (SIS) (in German) have the answer or know where to refer you to. SIS is the call center of the Student Admissions Office and the Central Student Advisory Office and is available daily. All counselors speak English.
