LMU Munich signs cooperation agreement with the renowned University of British Columbia
On February 15, 2008, Professor Reinhard Putz, Vice President of LMU Munich, and Professor Stephen Toope, President of the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada, have signed a cooperation agreement between the two universities. The initial objective is to promote the exchange of students in the departments of Physics, Economics, Politics, American Studies, and German as a Foreign Language. From the winter semester 2008/2009 onward, a total of five to 10 students every year will be able to study for one or two terms at UBC, making this partnership one of the most far-reaching of the more than 400 international cooperation programs at LMU Munich. In the long term, the cooperation agreement between LMU Munich and UBC is to be extended to include other academic departments and target groups at the universities.
This cooperation agreement with UBC marks LMU Munich’s continued success at gaining one of the most highly renowned universities in the world as a partner, and at further expanding its international network.
