"Ein deutsches Requiem"
The University Choir’s Semester Concert
The Munich University Choir and the Collegium Musicum München will perform Johannes Brahms’ “Deutsches Requiem”, under the direction of Johannes Kleinjung, in the Great Aula on 28. January. The German Requiem, scored for soprano and baritone soloists, choir and orchestra is one of the composer’s most popular works.
This will be Johannes Kleinjung’s final appearance at the head of the Munich University Choir, after 10 years as its Music Director. In order to provide an instrumental ensemble as a regular partner for the Choir, Kleinjung founded the Collegium Musicum München in 2005. The resulting cooperation and interaction between singers and instrumentalists has not only enabled both ensembles to extend their repertoire, but has improved the overall quality of their semester concerts.
