Summer school opens
New programs, new partnerships
June is upon us and the Munich International Summer University (MISU) has just opened its doors. This year more than 800 students from over 80 countries have registered for the summer academies and language courses.
There are 13 summer academies on the MISU curriculum in 2014 and, as in previous years, they cover a broad spectrum of disciplines. The season begins with a course in European Studies, which is being given in partnership with the National University of Singapore. The program entitled “Politics, Economics and Societies of the Middle East” is a new entry, and is a joint venture with Webster University Vienna. The class for this course is made up of equal numbers of LMU students and participants from abroad. In addition to the nine open courses, MISU 2014 also welcomes attendees from other partner institutions – Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, and Peking, Tongji, Zheijiang and Renmin Universities in China – and provides German language courses for 25 groups.
Students attending MISU not only profit from the content of the academic courses on offer, the program also offers plenty of extracurricular recreation, including excursions, cultural events and other leisure activities.
