Briefing for refugees and asylum-seekers

München, 06/29/2016

Refugees and asylum-seekers who wish to embark on a course of study at university are faced with a number of obstacles. In order to help you to meet these challenges, LMU invites you to attend an information session on Tuesday, July 5th 2016.

The briefing is designed to inform refugees and asylum-seekers of the support services available for those who would like to study at LMU Information for Refugees. People involved in various initiatives and projects designed to assist refugees to attend university courses will be on hand to offer advice and useful tips. The event will take place in the Senate Chamber (Senatssaal) in LMU’s Main Building (Geschwister-Scholl-Platz 1).

Dr. Stefan Lauterbach, Head of LMU’s International Office, will open the program with an introduction to the LMU’s Preparatory Program for Refugees and Asylum-Seekers, which enables refugees and asylum-seekers who already have some experience of university education to prepare for full-time studies in Germany. Among other benefits, the program offers free language courses and temporary student registration for suitably qualified applicants.

Representatives of other initiatives that form part of LMU’s Welcome Program will also introduce themselves and the services they offer. Following these short presentations, you will have ample opportunity to speak with potential supporters at the various information desks. Members of the many Refugee Initiatives and Projects at LMU, such as the Refugee Law Clinic Munich and Aktiv für Flüchtlinge will also be in attendance. In addition, social workers from the Bayernkaserne, as well as representatives of REFUGIO München and related organizations have also been invited.
