Information for Partner Universities

Students, who wish to study at LMU Munich under the auspices of a partnership exchange program such as Erasmus, SEMP or LMUexchange, must be officially nominated by the faculty/departmental exchange coordinator or by the exchange coordinator at the International Office of their home university by the following deadlines:

15.05. for the winter semester or the full academic year
15.10. for the summer semester

To nominate students please use this form:

Nomination form for Erasmus+,  SEMP Nomination form for LMUexchange

Erasmus/SEMP students must choose at least 50% of their course modules in the department with which their home university has an inter-institutional agreement.

LMUexchange students must choose at least 50% of their course modules from one department only.

Erasmus, SEMP and LMUexchange students may take the other 50% of their course modules in no more than two other departments (link: choosing courses).

As a rule students, who have no previous knowledge and study experience in a subject area, will solely be permitted to take introductory courses in this field.

Similarly bachelor students will generally not be permitted to take master courses (any exceptions to the rule will be made at the discretion LMU Munich).

To take courses taught in German, exchange students should have CEFR B2 level of proficiency. The same level of proficiency is required for courses taught in English. Some departments have a C1 requirement. Further information can be found at: language requirements.

On receiving nominations, the International Office of LMU Munich will send information about application procedures directly to the nominated students. Students must submit their application documents by the following deadlines:

01.06. for the winter semester or the full academic year
15.11. for the summer semester

The complete application must be printed, signed by the exchange coordinator and sent to us by regular mail. It must be sent on or before the above deadline. The posting date stamp on the envelope will be indicative. Please remind your students of their responsibility to submit their application on time.
